So the thought struck me today that I could do 4 10-hr days (8am-7pm) instead of my current 5 8-hr days (8am-5pm). I currently see 45 patients a week (9 patients a day in a combination of 30-60 minute slots). If I switched to 10 hr days I could add a few more slots a day but then I'd have more time to do random things at home. It would cut down gas cost slightly. I might have to change things for softball season or if this Roller Derby thing pans out but it's a thought...
Current appointment times: 9, 9:30, 10, 10:30, 11, 11:30, 1, 2, and 3 (the idea behind hour long slots at the end of the day is to give me time to catch up on chart-notes and tele-meds)
Possible changes if I switch to 4-10 hr days:
1) 9, 9:30, 10, 10:30, 11, 11:30, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (adding 3 slots per week) --OR--
2) 9, 9:30, 10, 10:30, 11, 11:30, 1, 1:30 2, 2:30, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (adding 11 patients a week)
Thoughts?
You should also take into consideration how your patients are going to be able to get into Bethel and be able to make these appointments, whether you have a patient waiting list that needs to be reduced, whether (and how) other staff people will be affected, etc.
